Monday Monday 2.11.2008

It's Monday!!!

Last week seemed to fly by for no particular reason at all. For the weekend, Maggie and I were off to the frozen tundra that is Pennsylvania for our last scheduled visit before the thaw (which is not coming soon enough to suit my liking). Our plumber and contractor had just finished the installation of our new tub/shower unit in the PA house, so it was good to see the change. On Friday afternoon, Maggie and I went to Lowes and spent half of my Federal Income Tax Rebate on a new stacked Washer and Dryer for the PA House. I guess it makes the house more "rentable."

Maggie and I don't have cable at our house in South Carolina, but for "renting purposes" we do have cable in Pennsylvania. I bring this up because it's funny how much we find ourselves in front of the TV when we are staying in PA. This past weekend, we simply took pleasure in watching the news. How we could take pleasure in hearing about college and town hall shootings - I really can't tell you, but national and world events normally travel so slow on the weekend. O'bama swept the weekend's Democratic primaries causing Hillary to replace her campaign manager in hopes of not losing momentum. The Republican race seems to already be over with John McCain so far out in the lead, but Huckabee is giving a choice to the Republicans that have yet to vote. Blah blah blah. . .I watched the news. We also watched Friday Night Smackdown!

It was a small adventure hooking up the washer and dryer because our boys at Lowes brought us four foot hoses to connect the hot and cold water to the washer when unfortunately for us - - the hoses had to go down through the floor and into the crawl space where our "hookups" were. That meant that our delivery and installation was more like a partial delivery of the parts needed to complete the project and a subsequent partial installation due to the partial delivery. A partial nightmare! We ventured into "small town USA" to find a local hardware where I could pick up longer hoses. We found them, brought them home, and . . . . water world. My initial "hookup" resulted in water squirting out of both ends of the hoses (that means all over me in the crawl space below and all over our kitchen above). Apparently the hoses I bought had an automatic shut off valve not included with the standard set, so I neglected to realize that there was a wrong way to hook up a hose. The shut off valve has to go on the end that hooks up to the faucet, so after a little trial and error - we managed to figure that out (at this point we have no dry towels - so it is imperative that we get this thing hooked up). Of course the tiny black valve fell out of the hot water hose, so I had to spend some time searching for that on the black plastic in the dark crawlspace below our little house.

After all was dry and clean (the house that is), we spent the rest of the night nervously watching the washer for signs of leakage. We had one scare, but determined that the water was from before. Luckily, when the weekend was over we did have some clean and dry clothes for the work week ahead.

Weekend Scoreboard
Scrabble - 1 Maggie Win
Yahtzee - 1 Ryan Win
Rummy - 1 Ryan Win
Golf (card game not the sport) - 2 Maggie wins (I think - Can't remember)

When Maggie and I got back to my hotel in Annapolis last night, we planned out our weekends for the next few months. I think we're booked solid through July now with stops for visits, weddings, graduations, pig roast, and our 2008 baseball stadium tour.

Best Wishes for a Great Week!!

Ryan

P.S. Spellcheck said I only had one spelling error, which I already fixed ( I incorrectly spelled "also" A-S-L-O) Can you find any other spelling or grammar errors (Your chance to shine Smitty)?
