Monday Monday 8.6.2007

Good Monday Morning to you all,

This weekend was rather unproductive, but I had a pretty decent weekend. Kelly and Rick (friends from college) moved into our old apartment complex in Charlotte, so I visited their new place and spent some time with them. They are both starting with IBM today.

Entertainment for the weekend included my initial viewing of the movie 300. Now controversial comments may follow, so if you liked the movie - please don't read on. Although I believed the fight scenes to be very well done, I thought the plot line to be poor at best. Oh there was potential, but our hollywood friends sacrificed good storytelling while opting for maximum action. I'm not knocking action, but I can honestly say that 100% action does not make for a cinematic masterpiece.

I did make some progress on my garage transformation this weekend (as you know I'm in the process of turning my garage into actual living space. . . a bar). My original plan had been to build a bar, but after this weekend that won't be necessary. Gerard and I were out and about when by chance we drove through our "Antique District." We decided since there were no plans in the near future that we would take a walk through the stores. Having almost made it through all the stores with all our cash still safe, we stumbled upon something that would set me back a few bucks. Just inside the door of Sophie's Antiques sat this beautifully hand carved bar. The carvings were on the front, sides, and top with a glass plate over the top. They're making a repair over the next few weeks, but I'll be able to pick it up by the end of August. (Dusty - I'm counting on you for the whole picking up process. Are you home the weekend of the 17th).

In other news, Maggie went to Atlantic City this weekend with friends from high school and unfortunately didn't score a massive pot of gold! Looking ahead - Kevin Lobdell is coming down to Charlotte this weekend and we've got a pretty solid list of adventures ahead of us. Will Charlotte survive the weekend?

When all the dust settles, last week's email resulted in 47 additional emails being sent out. Some of these were reply to all and some were just a reply to me, but either way you have all made it blatantly obvious that wine and beer are subjects of choice.

Enjoy the Week!-- Ryan Joy
