Happy Belated Labor Day Everyone,

For the first time in my life, I have enjoyed Labor Day in the way it was meant to be celebrated - with a day off!

Maggie and I continued our quest toward visiting all Major League Baseball Stadiums by making the four hour drive to Atlanta this weekend to watch the Brave battle the Mets. Visiting Turner Field (as it is named for Atlanta based Media Icon - Ted Turner) is an event in itself - even without the baseball game. The stadium is situated directly opposite the old ball field that the Braves played on in the years gone by. Although Fulton County (Stadium, Ball Park . . . can't remember exactly) was demolished, they maintained a piece of the outfield wall where Hank Aaron hit number 715 as well as the bases and base lines on the infield. The Amazin' Mets bested the Braves 5-1, but the game was fairly exciting since the score stayed 3-1 until very late in the game.

On this little Atlanta excursion, we decided to stay over night at the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Atlanta by using some of Maggie's points. Whoops. . . Apparently there was a weirdo convention going on and I apologize to any closet freaks on this list who might actually have heard of the organization known as "Dragon Con." Everywhere we looked, we saw people in elaborate costumes that could almost fool the sanest of people. Oh yes I saw all our friends from Star Trek, Star Wars, the Simpsons, classical literature, and more. If anyone really knows what this Dragon Con business is all about, I'd really like to know as I was freaked out of my mind when I stood three or four feet away from Chewbacca this past weekend.

Aside from Atlanta, we concluded the Summer Season of Housework by putting up some shelves and pictures. I think that we may slow down the remodelling as you can well imagine - we'd like to take some time to simply enjoy what we have before upgrading much more. Also on the subject . . .couldn't find any new plates at Coca Cola World (still standing by with that awkward amount of plates).

Gerard won Trivial Pursuit this weekend, but I believe the victory was slightly tainted as the correct answer to a what song question was "the Star Spangled Banner" and he replied "the American National Anthem." Now perhaps this wouldn't have been so bad if he did claim that "America the Beautiful" was the song in question . . . Although he may hold the trivial pursuit trophy. . . I must maintain my stance and can't recognize him as the true Trivia King. . .Also what kind of red blooded, Vermont born, American doesn't know the name of our own National Anthem.

Back in Annapolis working with the U.S. Navy this week - short week as I'll be home on Thursday - I wonder if people at the Navy could have recalled the song title. -- Ryan Joy
