Hi Everyone,
Another tiresome week that culminated on Friday when my little brother graduated high school. It has been a long and difficult road for him and the family, but Thank God he made it through springboarding his little self into adulthood.
The best story I have to offer this week goes like this. One of the girls at work came up to me and we had the following conversation.
She asked, "Ryan, do you travel here or are you local"
I answered her without a clue as to where this conversation might be heading, "I'm actually travelling from Charlotte"
A smile came over her face as if she was really proud, "Oh I recognized your Southern Accent"
I didn't have the heart to tell her that the accent is upstate NY. . . .She just seemed so proud that she could recognize my "draw." On the same subject, people have been telling me that they hear Ohio in my accent. Again, I'm not sure what a Ohio-an might sound like, but my guess on this one is that I started out as a Upstate New Yorker and blended that with some Carolina "draw." Somehow I averaged out in Ohio.
Maggie and I re-mulched our garden in front of the house this past weekend. We still need to run out and buy solar lights, but I think the red mulch we used looks a lot better than the Pine Needles put down by the builders. The next big project will be painting and carpeting the garage, so we can make a bar out of it.
I've got a busy week ahead of me visiting friends in the D.C. area and then a Team Dinner on Thursday at some nice looking steak and seafood place. . .-- Ryan Joy
